Our Story
An Upper East Side Institution
From our elegantly curved zinc bar, adorned with antique seltzer bottles, to the vibrant hues of our terrazzo floors, every corner of our restaurant radiates cozy charm.
For 15 years, we proudly served our community from the southwest corner of 88th Street and 2nd Avenue before relocating just a block away to a historic site—the former home of Elaine’s, a beloved neighborhood institution for over 50 years. Today, we continue our legacy of warm, dedicated service. Many of our regulars consider Café D'Alsace an extension of their own kitchens, a testament to our deep connection with our community.
Proudly New York-owned and operated, we prioritize sourcing locally whenever possible, embracing our role in this vibrant city.
Our Executive Chef, Philippe Roussel, is among New York’s finest, with a career shaped at iconic establishments like Windows on the World and Restaurant Daniel. His unwavering commitment to culinary excellence is evident in every dish, earning praise from the New York Times, Wine Spectator, Eater, Forbes, and more.
